There was once a parking lot behind the shops on the corner next to Alexander Apartments. Not now, because they are building a 4 story apartment block with 6 x 1 bdrm apartments and 3 x 2 bdrm apartments on the top 2 floors. The apartments are not for sale but will be rental properties.

Thanks to the efforts of Committee Member, Steve Pemberton, and Ray and Val Stephenson, together with the Building Manager and his staff,  the gardens are looking great and I am sure you will all agree. The gardens needed a good clean out and the red mulch really sets them off. Jack Lapenta .jpeg

The Lapenta Family visit Alexander every year from Melbourne. (It might have something to do with weather there.) Jack and his father Frank are both keen fishermen. Here is a photo from Level 8 with Jack and his bream which Dad cooked for dinner. On the same day they also caught 3 whiting and flathead while fishing in front of the Northcliffe Surf Club.  They also have luck fishing in the Nerang River which is just across the highway..

They trimmed back the bamboo that was encroaching on the other plants. They did much, much more and everyone should have a look sometime.

NEW LOOK LIFT CONTROLLERS - Stage 1 Lift Upgrade - It is hard to see where the $368,500 for the first stage. You need to visit the Lift Room.  Above are photos of the new and old controllers. The 2 new lift motors are more efficient and quieter.  No more groaning at night. The second stage might include new car interiors, new landing door locks, tracks and hangers, lift care exhaust fans, new operating panels for wheelchair access and code upgrades. A new levy will be required in a few years for this work.

Darren Malaquin, DMG Paving comes every October for a few days to Alexander to replace pavers in the parking area and the garden footpaths.  If not maintained these old pavers can be a safety risk.

In 2016 the committee decided to replace the 3 real plants in the indoor pool with artificial plants.  The real plants needed to much tender loving care and spillage of water was a cleaning problems, plus they never looked as good as these.

Thanks to you and the committee for our warm welcome to Alexander. We look forward to our next trip. Feel free to display our photo with the beautiful flowers that the committee sent to us and the fantastic background in the owners' web site. Please print, as well, our thanks to Ray and Val For their great help on the 8th of November. Alexander looked good, clean, and revitalised. The Alexander sign looked great and so the foyer. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and "Alexander" family. Kind regards George Voukelatos, Unit 44.

After a lot of water under the bridges, it was time to repair them.  We replaced the rotten wood and added compressed fibro for the walkway and used astro turf on top.

" New Look Roof "  - A brand new membrane was put down on the roof in December, 2013. New protective covers were installed over the exhaust vents following the January 2013 Australia Day storm. These covers prevent water entering the air vents and tracking down to the ground floor. There are two pumps to bring the water up to the roof and two pumps to push the water down so there is water pressure in the top units. New legislation in 2013 for the safety of the abseilers that wash the kitchen and bathroom windows required us to install eight new eye bolts on the roof to accompany the 6 existing ones.
